A superb course with plenty of tall palm trees, water hazards (lakes, rivers, ponds), a nice city skyline and beautiful villas around most of the holes. As mentioned in the general info, this par 72 has 14 holes with water, most of them being on the front 9, and it starts, right off the bat, with the beautiful par-4 1st hole, with a view of the city skyline in front, a narrow fairway between an elongated lake on the left and palm trees on the right. After the lake on the left, you will head for the nice and long (more than 630 yards) par-5 2nd hole, with a meandering... river on the right (with palm trees to the right) and more palm trees on the left, and a third shot over the water to reach the small green, slightly to the right, with nice villas around. The dogleg par-4 3rd hole is another beauty with a tree-lined fairway bending sharply to the right, with an elongated lake on the left, and nice villas all along (further to the left), and so is the par-3 4th, with a tee shot over a wide lake and a green, with more luxurious residences. Do you want more water ? Then, you will love the dogleg par-4 5th hole, with the fairway hugging a wide lake on the right, with more villas on the left side all along, and the par-3 6th, with another tee shot over a wide lake and a green near the edge, with plenty of palm trees behind. The left dogleg par-5 7th hole will provide you with a little relief as the wide lake on the left, near the tee box, is not a factor, offering you an opportunity to putt for an eagle after a second shot flying above the wide palm tree-lined fairway. As you reach the short (less than 340 yard) left dogleg par-4 8th hole, you might ask yourself : where is the water ? Well, it is there, without being visible, as you will find out if you hit your approach shot past the green, where you will see a small river ! The par-4 9th hole, with its meandering river on the left and an approach shot over it to reach the green, will remind you that you are not out of the woods yet... with water ! It is there again on the back 9, with the left dogleg par-4 10th hole, with a fairway following the river to the left, and an approach shot over it to reach the small green on the right (next to a nice little bridge on the left), and the par-3 11th, with a tee shot over the river running diagonally from the left of the tee area to the right in front of the small green ! The right dogleg par-5 12th hole is quite nice with a tee shot over the river (right in front of the tee area), and a nice palm tree-lined fairway with a lot of villas all along on the left side 'and behind the green), quite tough to reach with a small... pond in front. Then you will reach the lucky par-4 13th hole, slightly to the left, and where, guess what, there is no water (!), unlike the straight par-4 14th, with another small pond in front and to the right of the green. The next two holes, however, have no water either : the par-4 15th is a right dogleg, and the par-4 16th hole is a left dogleg, with a wide open fairway and a nice panoramic view of the villas and city skyline behind the green. Believe it or not, the best is for last : the par-3 17th hole is simply gorgeous, with a wide open view of the lake as your tee shot flies over it, and a peninsula (but looking more like an island) heart-shaped green, with nice palm trees behind, and so is the left dogleg par-5 18th hole, quite tough, with the fairway winding its way along the wide lake on the left, and making it almost impossible to reach the green on your second shot ! Needless to say, The Palms at Swift Lakes is a magnificent course and quite a surprise, since it is only the second one I played from hockeyfreak, having found the Madison Country Club, too dull ! And it is not a tiny displaying bug near the 12th green (with two fuzzy villas up front, quite noticeable), and a couple of palm trees planted in the... paths, that will make me change my mind : download this course and I guarantee that you will... freak out, discovering this gem !
