With small snow-capped mountains as a panorama, plenty of tree-lined fairways, doglegs, water hazards, nice little bridges and plantings, this par 72 plays very smoothly with quite a few challenging holes.
The par-4 1st hole is a left dogleg, with an elongated bunker on the right midway through and a small pond across the fairway not far from the green, and is followed by the par-4 2nd, with a big elongated pond on the left halfway and a big bunker across the slanted fairway, and a green, slightly to the left
But my favorite holes are the scenic and tough par-3 3rd, with a green between an s-shaped pond on the left and an s-shaped bunker on the right (with the snow-capped mountains on the left), the right dogleg par-5 4th, with water all along the fairway on the right side and around the peninsula green, and the short (about 315 yards) left dogleg par-4 5th hole, with trees, and a pond behind, hiding the peninsula green.
The next two holes are right doglegs with some tough tee shots, with the par-4 6th having two wide bunkers on both sides of the fairway halfway, making it quite narrow, and the long par-5 7th hole where you have two fairways, with bunkers in between, with the one on the left being much easier to reach than the one, further to the right (and with deep rough in front), and a green with an elongated lake on the right and behind.
Then, after the par-3 8th hole, with a little lake across in front of the green, you will finish the front 9 with the right dogleg par-4 9th hole, with an elongated lake halfway and a nice clubhouse behind
On the back 9, I like the long (about 600 yards) left dogleg par-5 10th hole, with an elongated lake on the left and an elongated bunker on the right halfway and a long approach shot over some trees near the green, the right dogleg par-4 13th, with a tough tee shot over a small lake halfway across, and the similar, but tougher, right dogleg par-4 15th, with another small lake partially across the fairway halfway and ending in front of the green.
Then, after the nice left dogleg par-4 16th hole, with a slightly-uphill tee shot landing on a downhill slope with deep rough across the fairway, and a u-shaped small lake in front (and on both sides) of the green, your last challenge will be on the right dogleg par-5 18th hole, where you will have to hit a long and precise approach shot to reach the green while avoiding trees and a big lake on the right.
Falcon Crest is a very enjoyable course and FoxintheWoods well deserved all the accolades he has been receiving, considering that it is only his third creation !

i thoroughly enjoyed the course, it's a fantasy that plays like a real course, not tricked up, bounces were fair and the greens rolled true. Know it was built 12 years ago, but want to thank Fox for the course and the pleasure it has given all the golfers who have played it over the years.

Super course, really enjoyed playing it, although like Phil I was rubbish. Clever landing areas made you have to think about where to aim.

for only your third course, this is a superb effort and has the attention to detail, ie greens and bunkers that i like, and very nice terrain work and plantings too, well done:))

Top notch job here, very smooth, bunkers are done very well and it was very challenging.
And it is nice to see cart paths that were not just dropped in there in a hurry.
Very nice track, and nicely planted.
Thanks FoxintheWoods and I too will be checking out your other courses.

If people are to give a course low marks, it would be nice if they would also leave constructive criticism in the feedback as well.

I found this course quite difficult. The course is long, the fairways narrow and the rough is deep, but fair. I thought the bunker placement was excellent - very well thought out.

The textures were blended very nicely, although sometimes it was hard to tell where the fairway ended and the green began - that may just be my pc though.

To me, this course has the feel of a TPC style layout. My only negative point is that the water placement did not feel natural. Some of the ponds seemed to be there for the sake of having water on the hole. I like to look at a course and have the impression that the architect has designed a hole around the existing water, rather than a man-made ball trap.

I gave this course 4 stars, and will definitely be playing it again - once I have practiced my wood and long iron accuracy some more :)

This course was 5 stars right from the beginning. I believe the reason the rating is so low is not because of the course, but because of when the course was released. It's sad that a course of this magnitude will not get the credit it deserves because others want to make their course look better so they rate courses that are superior to theirs worse.

Off the soapbox now, I loved the textures and bridge structures you used. The pins were well-placed and the course played long but fair. I have not played any of your other courses, but I definitely plan to after this one.
