I found the course to be one of those where I couldn't be too aggressive off the tee - I mostly teed off with my 4 wood on the 4's and 5's. But if you take what the course gives you off the tee, the 2nd shots are pretty straightforward. I really enjoyed the course, palm trees and Hawaii are sure winners with me! Thanks, TWC Team, great job, I'll be back! Maybe with my 2 wood!

Very nice course with beautiful small mountains as a backdrop and plenty of water hazards.
This par 72 is not overly difficult as fairways and greens are nice and smooth, but a few holes have very narrow fairways and, sometimes, trees partially hiding the greens.
On the front 9, after the par-4 1st hole, quite scenic with a big lake on the left side, flowers and a meandering path on the right and mountains facing the tee, I like the dogleg par-4 2nd hole, with a lake on the left side near the tee box and another one on the right near the green, and the nice par-3 3rd hole, with palm trees surrounding the green next to the lake. As for the par-5 6th hole, it is quite tough with its very narrow fairway and its pin placement close to the lake.
The back 9, while still nice, is more straightforward, except for the doglegs par-4 10th and par-5 11th holes. Besides these two holes, I like the right dogleg par-4 16th, with its "cute" lone tree standing midway in the fairway near the lake on the right, and gorgeous flowers around it, and the par-4 18th hole, with its nice view of the lake and the clubhouse, near the green.
Well-designed and not too stressful, this course is fun to play and is quite eye-candy, thanks to the combined talent of the TWC Design team !

Just played 18 for the first time, pristine, well manicured course with great little green complex's. Not too difficult to play under normal conditions but pump up the breeze and you can very easily be caught out. Great visual appearance and the tropical bird sounds suit the course.

Superb job to all the TWC team, i think you have created what you set out to do.

I was happy to see TWC release another year's team effort and downloaded this morning to play and review. Here are my thoughts;

Played off-line with following settings; Expert, very dry, calm, dif oins, part cloudy, morning. M/C specs; Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GIG RAM, ATI HD3870XT Radeon with 512mb VRAM. 22inch monitor running at 1680 x 1050. Game options all at highest level apart from shader which is always set to Medium. Used FRAPS to monitor frame rates.

Hole 1 - Nice looking opener to the new TWC course. Good setting, nice pano and a good looking hole to start us off, with great lipped bunker work.
Hole 2- First noticeable, was no bunker lips, so although this is a fantasy work, I would have liked to have seen the starting theme, carried through. Aesthetically, I saw uneven water edges and the border work around the green {wood?} was very spikey. Path also uneven and followed terrain work instead of cutting thru.
Hole 3- Slightly uneven edges to water, bunkers remain unlipped, dif pin not holding until within 2 feet of cup.
Hole 4- Back to lipped bunkers and the swimming pool bunkers can be ignored as this is a fantasy design.
Hole 5- Seemed to be a bit of a spike at end of tee complex but this didn't interfere with play. Nice work on the lipped bunkers although there was one that seemed out of place due to it's severe depth.
Hole 6- Very realistic looking hole. Natural depth to bunkers {lipped} natural undulations however, like the preceeding holes, this was a very straight route to the green, this could be an edger's paradise.
Hole 7- Back to bunkers without lips however, there was some great elevation work and it was nice to see the bunkers staying level with the water and not falling below it. Really liked this hole.
Hole 8- Nice elevation work and we are back to the theme of lipped bunkers. However, another straight hole.
Hole 9- Continuing with the lipped bunker theme, it was again dissappointing to see flat landing zones in the fairway giving easy approach shots on another straight hole to a relatively easy green.
Hole 10- Back to no bunker lips. However, very nice elevation work including bunkers and fairways. I at last got a non-flat ball lie. LOL Green a bit easy though.
Hole 11- Nice elevation work, Good to see use of rough breaking up the fairway. Not a difficult par 5 though, as 2 x straight shots found a very easy green and an eagle ensued.
Hole 12- Good bunker work on this hole {with lips yay LOL} some good elevations on fairway too.
Hole 13- Very very straight. Easy hole, no green protection, not sure what i,agination was used on this hole, shame.
Hole 14- Very nice looking hole, nice elevations, good lipped bunker work and a nice 2 tiered green complex.
Hole 15- Still waiting for a dogleg, as this has been straightforward and no course management needed to get this far. Very little in elevation work to both fairway and green. However, nice bunker work here.
Hole 16- Very straight again! Nice elevations to fairway but a very easy green.
Hole 17- This has to be my favourate hole here. Excellent elevation work all round and subtle. Nice to see landing zone distances with different elevations to provide ball-lie challenge. Good bunker work, even though lipped theme dropped again. Green complex very nice with great natural looking subtle elevations, providing a good putting challenge. Only 2 things I found not to my personal liking - water edges were flat and not dropped and yet again, the hole is straight.
Hole 18- Nice bunker work with lips added for this final hole. Gentle elevations with nice tight landing area or play to lay up. Fantastic green protection with sand in front and water if your shot goes long. Great green elevations here, again using subtle approach to sloping.

Summary

This is a nice course, however it is probably more suited to the Novice/Intermediate player due to little or no course management skills required. For me, it was way to straight and offered no variation in that theme to offer me a decent and exciting challenge playing the way I prefer. {ie: expert and very dry}
It was a shame not to see the bunker lip theme carried through all 18 holes, but that is just my preference. The first hole on a course should be setting the scene and gives you the general theme of a course. However, again, this is a fantasy design, so not really that important.
Aesthetically, this course was very pleasing with some simply outstanding examples of planting skills being applied.
I would have liked to have seen some more elevation work to the fairways to counter the straightness of the track. Elevations to fairways and especially the LZ's, can help players skill levels to increase due to contending with different ball lies. This course offered very little in that field. I personally found this course too easy with no variation to keep me enthralled. However, that is just me. I think this course is much better suited to the Novice/Intermediate player.

I expect TWC wanted to create a course that was "playable" at all levels and I think they almost nailed it here. It is a very hard task to achieve whilst offering all levels with sufficient challenge. Valient effort to organise and manage a team across their community and to keep focus on the task in hand, I have a total understanding of how challenging that can be. I'm sure many tours will be making use of this course as it will appeal to 75% of playing levels.

I do hope TWC design another team effort in the near future and include some doglegs and other variations, as this may give us all that extra difficulty needed to appeal to all levels, however on this one, I do believe there will be those out there who rip this course with scores of greater than -20 etc.
