I have just re-installed (after getting really frustrated with TWOnline)TW2k8 on a new PC. I just gave up on the online version. It has been a long time since I have been on this site and involved with this game. I was wondering if there is a one stop shop for all the neat little installs that the community has come up with tho make the game more fun to play? Where would I find such a gem?

Thanks

Hi...

When you installed TW08 it is good idea to do the confidence folder fix:

http://www.coursedownloads.com/forum/posts.asp?post=5801

When you want to install TW08 custom courses, you will need automatic installer TWCaddie08:

http://www.coursedownloads.com/extras/category.asp?id=1&gameid=11

When you are running Win7 or Vista you will have to run TWCaddie08 as administrator, some help on link below:

http://www.coursedownloads.com/forum/posts.asp?post=8478&forum=32

You can find other tools in section: Utilities....utilities and files for TW08

Or go to link below:

Does anyone know how fixing the bug by making those 2 files read only impacts your career progress?

I'm getting presented with opportunities to do little challenges (chipping/putting/etc) to boost my players confidence with those types of shots.

With the confidence file being "read only" does that mean I won't actually get any better from those skills challenges?

Thanks.

the folder fix will obviously remove those gimmicky things

the confidence meter etc is pure gimmick that tracks which courses/holes you have difficulty with, then regurgitates them back

nothing what ever to do with career as an amatuer player

and the only way to get better is to practice

What is the easiest way to transfer courses from old PC to new PC? Do I have to download each course all over again? Please advise what files/folders I can copy over to new PC in TW08 main folder...both PC's running Windows 7...

You will have to reinstall all libraries and courses with TWCaddie08.
But on your old computer you can make a few zipfiles of your Courses folder and libraries folder.
After that you can put the courses and libraries zipfiles on a memory stick, and install them later on your new PC.
This way you don t have to redownload all courses and libraries again.

This is the fastest way to do it:

1. on your old system go to the libraries folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\EA Sports\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08\Libraries
Now make a big zipfile of the folder: Libraries
(So go to folder libraries and zip the whole folder)
Note: when you have more then 100 libraries in the folder libraries, try to split it in 4 zipfiles:
After that on your new system install the libraries zipfiles in Tw08 with TWCaddie08.

2. on your old system go to the Courses folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\EA Sports\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08\Courses
Now make a big zipfile of the folder: Courses
(So go to folder courses and zip the whole folder)
Note: when you have more then 50 Courses in the folder Courses, try to split it in 4 zipfiles:
After that on your new system install the Courses zipfiles in Tw08 with TWCaddie08.

Inmportant note: First install all the libraries zipfiles, at last install the courses zipfiles, or you will receive messages of missing libraries.

I don't know about Win7 well, but isn't it possible to copy the old PC's registry to the new one? If it is, you can copy the whole TW folder directly.

Yes it is possible to export the registry and import the registry to the other computer, as long as both systems are both 32 bit or 64 bit.
When one system is 32bit and other is 64bit it wont work.
And you also have to put the courses folder and libraries folder on the same path as the old computer.
But it is not recommened when you are not familiar with the registry. Exporting and importing wrong data from the registry can mess up your system.

Thanks GunPower. Both PC's are 64-bit. So, just copy the COURSES FOLDER and DLLs onto corresponding folders on new PC (C:\Program Files (x86)\EA Sports\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08\Courses)? Or, should I also install TW CADDIE 08 again?

Gunpower,

Everything is working great on new PC except that the course names/icons are not listed in the game when I goto select a custom course...the courses are all there though they all have the same icon and name.

Are there some icons I should copy over from another folder to new PC? For example, SPYGLASS course says AUGUSTA NATIONAL with generic icon (though the SPYGLASS course actually loads/plays fine)...

Hello Tony,

I tried it on my win7 system and i had the same problem, all courses had the same icon and splash screens.
However the problem is very easy to fix, i tried it and it works perfect, follow next steps:
On your new system you have to replace all installed coursename folders with the coursename folders from your old system ( which you backed up ).
So on you new system inside TW08 go to the folder: Courses
C:\Program Files (x86)\EA Sports\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08\Courses
Inside the folder Courses delete all installed coursename folders
After that go to the zipped courses from your old system:
Somwhere on your PC unzip the zipped courses from your old PC, and now you should see all coursename folders from your old PC.
Now copy the coursename folders from your old pc, and paste it in TW08 in the Courses folder
C:\Program Files (x86)\EA Sports\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08\Courses

Summary: On your new system in TW08 in the folder: Courses.... you have to delete all installed coursename folders.
And replace the deleted coursename folders with the coursename folders from you old system ( which you backed up )
