After finishing playing my third course in a row from ron717 (after Southerness Golf Club and Fishers Island Club), I must say that this one is another very nice course, albeit very different from the other two.
No more links course to stare at but rather a wide open, superb landscape with high trees and plenty of ponds and lakes to keep you in check, should you decide to go for broke on a few holes.
While not too difficult, this par 72 has some nice scenic holes, such as around the green of the par-4 6th or on the par-5 11th hole, with the lake pretty close to the faiway on the left side. The par-3 12th hole, with a wide bunker on the right side and a big lake behind the green is pretty too, just like the dogleg par-4 14th, with a small lake on the right, and the par-4 16th hole, with its beautiful "snaky" lake beyond the green.
As for the last two holes, the par-3 17th and the par-4 18th, they are picturesque and will keep you on your toes until the end...
Last, but not least, ron717 did it again with his "now you see, now you don't" golf bag "trick" as you will discover every time you turn around behind the tee box. But take a good look, because it will disappear when you play back your shot using the reverse camera, before showing up again, sometimes, near the greens ! I guess it is one of ron717's famous designing trademarks... who knows ?
