Another very nice course from Neil Munro, quite bare but with plenty of high rough all around, wide bunkers, tall grass and quite a few lakes to watch for.
If the left dogleg par-4 1st hole is a nice way to start, with a slanted fairway, a big bunker on the right and a few trees around, I prefer the left dogleg par-4 2nd, with an undulated fairway and 4 small bunkers in the middle, and a lake behind the green, with a bunker in front on the right side.
The scenery then changes with the very scary par-3 3rd hole, with a tee shot over a wide lake and a... tiny green at the edge, and continues with the dogleg par-4 4th, with a tee shot over a lake (hopefully) landing between a few trees and a green, slightly to the right.
The right dogleg par-4 5th hole is very short (less than 400 yards !), with trees and bunkers on the right, and you should be able to get an eagle opportunity as you reach its elevated green.
The par-3 6th hole is not overly difficult, with a small lake on the left and a small war memorial (dedicated to the Dundee men who fell during the 1st World War) on the right side, behind the green to the right.
The last two holes on the front 9 are par-5s : the 8th is a right dogleg, quite long (about 590 yards) and you will have a tough time trying to reach the green on your second shot as the green sits on a high mound, with plenty of sand and high rough below on the right side, to go along with a couple of tall trees on the left !
The par-5 9th hole is the opposite : a left dogleg, about 50 yards shorter, with a downhill tee shot, and a green framed by high rough on the left side, and a big sand trap on the right.
On the back 9, after the straight par-4 10th hole and its big elongated bunker on the right side, I like the gorgeous sharp dogleg par-5 11th hole, with a big peninsula (on the right side) and a tee shot over a lake with a big bunker on the left side, surrounded by high rough, not far from the green, and with two small bunkers near the flag.
Then, after seeing the war memorial again (on the left side of the green) on the short par-4 12th hole, you will face two consecutive par-3 holes, both about 170 yards, with the greens near the left edges of the lake, with the 14th, needing a tee shot over it.
You will then reach my favorite hole, the beautiful sharp left dogleg par-5 15th, with a tee shot over an enormous bunker, with another big one in the left corner, and a fairway getting narrower as you get close to the green on your second shot, with two big lakes on both sides, and two small half-moon-shaped bunkers, right then left, not far from the green !
Then, after teeing off over a wide lake on the straight par-3 16th hole, quite bare but with plenty of high rough behind the green, you will finish with two similar holes : the left dogleg par-5 17th has a fairway twisting its way along the lake on the left side all the way to the green, and the nice dogleg par-4 18th hole, with the lake on the left side, has a big elongated bunker with small trees on the right, making the fairway a little bit narrow as you reach the green.
This par 72, once again, is very enjoyable and, with its natural look, is a definite keeper in my book which is no surprise, knowing that it is (brillantly) designed by Neil Munro !

A quick look at the description & thought it might be a different take on Dow Nunda, not so but there are similarities in water content! Loved the finishing run of holes, especially the 15th - once you take that dogleg left it's a very narrow fairway between the lakes, tapering up to the green. 5* & thanks for another fine layout, Neil...

I think this is an excellent course!
Nicely styled;plenty of bunkers and waters ...
And... very naturally coloured.
A pleasure to be there and play it.
Thanks a lot mr. Munro!

Whoops
I played last night as you have heard.......LOL

Like the way the course played, and I found water playing in breezy conditions more than I would have liked, but my TW skills aren't anything to write home to mama about. Loved the look & plantings on the course, and had it has this watse like feel to it, and made me feel like I was out in the middle of nowwhere, but had a island feel at the same time. It worked, and the course have a cool different vibe. Thanks your time making it for us.

What texture was that with the tall tan grass? Trying to find something like that for the course I'm working on, but kinda hope to find a green that renders good like the tall grass you used. Plus, did you plant those Lilly pads or do they come with the water texture?

Beautiful job Neil. 'VERY' challenging. Keep it on the screws or you better have a lot of sleeves of balls with you. Thanks man.

Thanks Phil. I did ask about the birds, but apparently I'm not allowed to shoot em. Should have made the course in Italy :).
