Par 72 7557 Yds Parkland course - can play tough if you don`t play smart. Can`t always use driver off tee due to meandering stream running across fairway on some holes. Stay on fairway or pay the price. No Tour setup. Looks good - plays tough. \greens can challenge as well. Thanks for sharing

With its wide fairways and smooth greens (except on a few holes), this par 72 appears easy but you will have to be careful with some of your tee shots with streams (or small elongated lakes), often splitting the fairways, halfway, if you don’t want to end up in trouble with your approaches to the greens, as you will find out, for example, on the dogleg par-4 1st hole, bending sharply to the right, with a tee shot over a winding creek midway.
On the par-3 3rd hole, your tee shot will again fly over deep rough and a tiny stream, running right in front of the green (with a bunker on the right to watch for), just like on the right dogleg par-4 4th, with another tee shot over a creek crossing the fairway, diagonally.
The par-5 5th hole, on another hand, should offer you an eagle opportunity, as its green is reachable on your second shot (despite its serpentine tree-lined fairway), but beware of the following par-3 6th, with a bunker, right below the slightly-elevated green (and with another one the right)...
Another par-5 awaits you on the 8th hole, with a fairway, narrow in the middle with bunkers on both sides, and an approach over a stream flowing across in front of the green, quite pretty to look at with its Dundee War Memorial behind.
As you head home, you will face the long and straight (more than 620 yards) par-5 11th hole, where you will have to land your tee shot short of a small mound (filled with a couple of bunkers), splitting the fairway all the way across, before hitting a blind second shot over it, and a short approach toward the green.
On the par-4 14th hole, your tee shot will fly over an elongated pond (right in front of the tee) and your approach over a stream (flowing in front of the green), before moving on to the tricky right dogleg par-4 15th, with a tee shot landing short of an elongated lake, midway across, and a second shot over it to reach its narrow green.
Finally, after the par-3 16th hole, with a tee shot over a lake, two-thirds of the way, and the right dogleg par-4 17th, with a tee shot landing short of a creek, flowing across the fairway diagonally, you will face the long par-5 18th, with a tough decision to make on your second shot, as a serpentine creek winds its way across the fairway (and past the green on the right, and behind) : hit it long and you will have to pray that it flies over the water twice for an eagle opportunity or, hit it short, and it will fall in between, leaving you with a short approach for a potential birdie.
Overall, if this Cripple Creek course plays smoothly and is nicely designed, with different (and colorful) trees, Neil Munro has designed some nicer ones over the years with, often, the Dundee War Memorial as a constant reminder...

Amazing design, this just ticks every box and is so much fun to play. A relaxed course yet plenty of challenge due to the clever layout. I managed -4 first up (exp/dry/breezy) but the one blemish on my scorecard was a nasty triple and I suspect recovery on most holes wouldn't be easy (hence part of the challenge). It looks stunning, plays a treat, and the architecture is unique and top quality - the 17th, for eg, is an absolute belter of a par 4, kudos! Loved it, a dose of Munro magic, cheers!
